Title II.A: Preparing, Training and Recruiting High-Quality Teachers and Principals, and Other School Leaders

 

Title II.A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is intended to support teachers, principals, and other school leaders in their work to improve the overall quality of instruction and ensure equity of educational opportunity for all students. There are four intended goals:

1. Increase student achievement consistent with state standards,

2. Improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders, 

3. Increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools, and 

4. Provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.  

 

Title II.A supports a variety of professional learning, including:

• Teacher Instructional Leader Stipends

• Portion of Teacher Instructional Leader Salary/Benefits

• Nonpublic Schools in the School District of University City also receive a portion of Title IIA funds to support professional learning. The school district acts as the fiscal manager and nonpublic schools within the District boundaries receive funding based on their total enrollment.

 

In support of strengthening student academic achievement and teacher professional learning, U. City Schools receive Title II, Part A funds and will be carrying out the requirements of The Every Students Succeeds Act (ESSA).
